Marine Terminal Layout
Marine terminal layout studies for new and existing facilities, covering berth location and orientation, vessel manoeuvring, loading platforms, dolphins, dredging and interfaces with existing port infrastructure and operations.
Marine Value develops concept and general arrangement layouts for new marine terminals and upgrades of existing port facilities, based on the design vessels, cargo-transfer requirements, and site-specific constraints.
We assess alternative berth locations and orientations, navigation and manoeuvring requirements, loading platforms, breasting and mooring dolphins, and interfaces with landside roads, utilities and existing infrastructure.
For projects within operating ports, particular emphasis is placed on integrating new facilities with existing marine traffic and terminal operations. Layout alternatives are developed to minimise dredging, avoid unnecessary modifications to existing infrastructure and reduce interference with ongoing port activities.
Layout concepts are evaluated against navigation, safety, constructability, and dredging requirements, providing a technically defined basis for subsequent ship simulations, mooring studies, structural and geotechnical design.
We apply relevant PIANC guidance, including PIANC WG 153C, together with applicable BS 6349 requirements and project-specific port and authority criteria.
